Laboratory Testing

Microbiological testing for safer products and stronger process control.

Timor Labs provides food and beverage microbiology testing from its laboratory in Aileu, helping producers verify hygiene, investigate incidents and release product with confidence. Testing is scoped against your product, your process and the decisions you need to make.

Applications

Microbiological testing supports decisions at every stage of production. Common applications include:

  • Raw-material assessment before production
  • Process verification at critical steps
  • Finished-product testing before release
  • Hygiene monitoring of lines and equipment
  • Shelf-life planning and selected studies
  • Incident and customer-complaint investigation
  • Supplier qualification and incoming checks
  • Product-development and formulation support

Hygiene indicators

Hygiene-indicator organisms show whether cleaning, handling and process controls are working. Depending on sample type and confirmed laboratory scope, testing may include:

  • Total Viable Count / Aerobic Plate Count
  • Total Coliforms
  • Escherichia coli
  • Yeasts and Molds

Selected organisms and pathogen screens

Where a product risk assessment calls for it, selected organism screens may be available, including:

  • Salmonella species
  • Staphylococcus aureus
  • Listeria spp. where confirmed within available scope
  • Enterococci
  • Pseudomonas
Test availability, sample quantity, method, reporting unit and turnaround depend on product type and the intended use of the result. Confirm the final scope with Timor Labs before collecting samples.

Sample types and sampling

Appropriate samples typically include finished products, ingredients, in-process material, process water and environmental swabs. Because containers, volumes, temperature and holding time vary by method, contact Timor Labs before sampling so we can confirm the correct approach. Our sampling guide summarises the general principles.

Turnaround and reporting

Microbiology testing generally requires approximately 7–10 days from formal sample acceptance, depending on the selected method, sample type and whether confirmation testing is required.

Results are issued in a clear report identifying the sample, the methods used, results and units, and applicable observations. Where helpful, our team can walk you through the findings and discuss practical next steps.
