Acceptance outcomes
What can happen at sample receipt
Every sample is reviewed against acceptance criteria. These are the possible outcomes — communicated promptly in each case.
Sample accepted
The sample meets acceptance criteria; testing proceeds and turnaround begins.
Sample accepted with qualification
Testing proceeds with a documented limitation, which is noted on the report.
Additional information required
We pause and ask for missing details before work can begin.
Sample rejected
The sample cannot be validly tested — we explain why and advise on re-sampling.
Confirmation testing required
A presumptive finding requires confirmatory steps, extending the turnaround.
Revised turnaround required
If workload or method requirements change the schedule, we tell you promptly.
Turnaround
When does the clock start?
Microbiology testing generally requires approximately 7–10 days from formal sample acceptance, depending on the selected method, sample type and whether confirmation testing is required.
The turnaround clock starts after:
- Formal sample acceptance at the laboratory
- Receipt of all required information
- Confirmation of commercial terms, where applicable
Not sure which test or service you need?
Tell us about your sample, facility, product or compliance objective. Our team will help define an appropriate scope.
